Structural Welders needed in Newport News, VA. and Mobile Alabama
$27.50-$37/HR dependent on experience and passing welding tests.
$120/day Per Diem
Clean record required NO FELONIES
Multi-pass. All position fillet and butt welds using the following processes: SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding) and GMAW-P (Pulse Arc Welding).
Heating - Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch.
Experience working in a physically demanding environment (shipboard, sub-assemblies, ladders, staging, etc.).
Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry.
Air Carbon Arc Gouging.
Ability to properly use fillet and butt weld gauges.
All Welders will be required to pass all position, Multi-pass Butt Weld, Welder Qualification Tests prior to reporting for the first day of productive work. These tests will be in accordance with MIL-STD-248D Paragraph 5.3.3 and the following:
All position (Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), and Overhead (4G)) SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) process.
All position (Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), and Overhead (4G)) FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) process.
Horizontal (2G) position GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) process.
Air Carbon Arc Gouging proficiency test.
The Welding School will administer the following tests:
All Welding Qualification Tests in “A” (6 hours), “B” (12 hours), “C” (4 hours) above.
Visual Inspection of Welds Level I (4 hours).
Welders Vision Test (5 minutes).
Air Carbon Arc Gouging Proficiency Test (1 hour).
Confined space trained in accordance with OSHA Standards 29 CFR 1915 Subpart B.
Hazard communication trained in accordance with OSHA Standard 29CFR 1915.1200 (1910.1200) (h) – (1) through (3) (iv).
Respirator trained and qualified. A Respirator Medical Clearance Examination as required by a Physician. The Respirator Training and Fit Testing will meet the requirements of Standard 29CFR1910.134 and each individual shall be trained in a negative-pressure type respirator, MSA COMFO CLASSIC (with MSA approved vapors and dust filter
Marine Structural Welder Requirements –
Marine Structural Welders must be proficient in FCAW and SMAW welding processes and be able to set up machine and weld in horizontal 2g, vertical up 3g and over head positions 4g with .045 & .052 wire and 7018 stick.
Welders must be able to read and interpret some blueprints and weld symbols and pass ABS testing qualifications prior to starting in production.
Maritime OSHA 10 hour training is preferred and applicants that can provide proof of training will have priority to apply.
